The Queensland Multicultural Policy – A multicultural future for all of us Queensland Multicultural Policy – A multicultural future for all of us promotes unity in our society and a sense of belonging for all Queenslanders, regardless of our cultural, linguistic, religious and ethnic backgrounds. The policy celebrates the traditions and values of all Queenslanders and advances our state’s social, economic and civic identity.
The Queensland Multicultural Policy outlines priorities for the Queensland Government, including the key themes:
- multicultural recognition legislation
- language, information and communication
- improving service delivery
- regional and emerging communities
- skills, jobs and enterprise, and
- inclusive communities.

Queensland Language Services Policy - A multicultural future for all of us
In addition, the Queensland Language Services Policy - A multicultural future for all of us Language Services Policy - A multicultural future for all of us has been updated to strengthen delivery of Queensland Government services to people with difficulty communicating in English, through the use of interpreters, translated materials and other services.
Outcomes of consultation
In developing the Queensland Multicultural Policy – A multicultural future for all of us, the Queensland Government conducted community consultation throughout Queensland from October 2009 to July 2010.
The Consultation Report 2011 Consultation Report 2011 – Review of the Queensland Government Multicultural Policy: Multicultural Queensland – making a world of difference, outlines the key issues raised during the consultation and suggestions for future directions.
Queensland Multicultural Action Plan 2011-14
To support the implementation of the Multicultural Policy, a three-year whole-of-government Queensland Multicultural Action Plan 2011-14 Queensland Multicultural Action Plan 2011-14 has been developed. This Action Plan contains 62 actions to be delivered by the Queensland Government to address the six key themes listed above.
Each year a highlights report will be published identifying how we have progressed these actions and at the end of the three year period we will review the Action Plan for outcomes achieved.
